Perhaps Homeschooling is Safe in California? (Perhaps Not)

According to this article, the LA Times misunderstood a ruling by a California court to mean that homeschooling was deemed illegal, when actually it did not. That misunderstanding was picked up on and spread across the internet.

So maybe homeschooling in California is safe....for now.

[UPDATE] Well, the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) seems to think homeschooling is now illegal in California; see their petition to request the depublishing of the case in question.

These kinds of government actions are what drives Christians to homeschool! There may be some fearmongering from Christians that goes a bit overboard, but that doesn't mean a Christian should put aside his/her faith because of a government edict. Public schools are simply indoctrination camps to instill what the government considers to be good values for "citizenship"; educating children is only a secondary goal, if it is even a goal at all.
